As 2015 draws to a close, we thought we’d take a look back over what has been an incredible year for Wraggs Seafoods.
The last 12 months have included a lot of firsts – for both Wraggs Seafoods and the Fish and Chip industry – and the company started the year as it meant to go on, with a brand new website.
Completing the revitalisation of the business – which already included moving to a bigger depot with a new coldstore and acquiring a fleet of new vehicles in 2014 – the new website was designed and created with the aim of offering our customers and suppliers instant access to in-depth information on the wide range of products and services we provide.
It was also a way for the company to keep its own identity following the 2011 acquisition by Collins Seafoods. We have always felt it is important not to merge Collins’ and Wraggs’ online presence, as both companies have their own unique character and customer base.
As the new, user-friendly website started to build our online profile, we continued to dominate the fish and chip industry with constant deliveries of our Frozen at Sea fish to shops around Yorkshire and the East Midlands.
This was taken to the next level with the historical arrival of The Kirkella – the first British white fish trawler to launch this century. She is still very much continuing to make waves with her revolutionary approach to fishing, including a zero discard policy, meaning everything caught is landed and accounted for.
The Kirkella’s arrival coincided perfectly with the UK’s first ever National Fish and Chip Day, held on June 5th. Naturally, as people around the country tucked into the nation’s favourite takeaway, the Wraggs team made sure not to miss out either. We were delighted to hear this was going to become an annual event and have already highlighted it in our diaries for 2016!
The end of the year brought with it Seafood Week in October and more exciting news for the team, as two of our members look forward to welcoming the newest members of their families. With the arrival of a Christmas baby and one baby due in the New Year, it looks like 2016 is going to be another eventful 12 months for Wraggs Seafoods.
We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year!
